How to come to Arvieux by train?
By train: The nearest SNCF station is Montdauphin-Guillestre on the Paris Briançon line. Count 7 hours from Paris by TGV via Valence or Grenoble. Direct night train from Paris very practical in winter. Trains from Marseille via Gap (around 4h30)
to reach the chalet, you can take a shuttle or a taxi (journey time 25-30 minutes).
How to come by car?
(GPS coordinates: N 44 46 53 / E 06 44 07):
From Paris (8h / 750km): the fastest route is via Italy. Paris-Lyon-Tunnel de Fréjus (45 €) -Briançon-Arvieux.
Otherwise Paris Grenoble, Col du Lautaret Briançon Col de Izoard Arvieux. (8-9h)
From Marseille (3h / 250km): take A7, then A51 towards Gap, then Embrun, Guillestre and Arvieux.
If you plan to take the train and rent a car?
From Aix en Provence TGV station, allow 3 hours to drive
From Turin in Italy (2 hours drive)
How to come in winter?
Warning ! The Izoard pass between Briançon and Arvieux is closed from early November to mid May. The only entry into Queyras is via Guillestre.
How to come on foot?
From Guillestre train station, you can reach Arvieux via the mountain pastures of Furfande. From Briançon, take the GR5 via the Col des Ayes (2477 m)
How to come by bike?
Via the legendary Izoard pass (2360 m) from Briançon. In summer only
